Himveda was founded in 2012 by me and Dr. Guleria in Dharamshala, North India.

We met at Ayurvedic College in 1999. Since our early college days, we visualized an Ayurvedic center where we could practice the art and science of Ayurveda.

After finishing our bachelor’s degrees in 2006, rather than taking the safe route of joining a government job, we embarked on a learning journey that took us to various healers in different parts of India.By the time we finished our master’s degrees in 2010, the vision had taken shape.

At that time there were no excellent authentic Ayurveda centers in the area. A few centers that were running, provided spa or touristy treatments rather than medically oriented treatments. We wanted to bridge this gap and provide authentic Ayurvedic treatments for various ailments.

Thus Himveda was born as a day-care facility out of one room on the first floor of my house. Over the next two years, we added 3 more rooms and converted them into a small residential facility. We started getting patients from other states of India as well as overseas.

In the following years, we felt the need to move to a village as the herbs are more readily available in villages and the space would be more open as opposed to the congested environment of a town.In 2017 we bought 2 acres of land on the periphery of Dharamshala town in a village called Tangroti. Our new building was ready in February 2023 and we welcomed our first patients in April.

Our building follows the traditional Indian science of architecture, known as Vastu. We have made a conscious effort to preserve the natural environment by allowing local plant species to flourish without excessive manicuring of the garden.

The clinic offers Ayurvedic treatments, including Panchakarma, which can be expensive due to the cost of rare herbs and oils. However, we strive to keep the prices reasonable without compromising on quality, making these treatments accessible to people from all walks of life.

We believe that Ayurveda is a science that can be decoded and presented more scientifically, without diluting its original meaning and intent. Our goal is to integrate Ayurveda with modern science to make Ayurveda more accessible and beneficial to a wider audience.
